Lend Me Your Ears: Bedroom Producer

As a teenager, Rechtshaid set up a small studio in his parents’ garage, and started recording and producing friends’ bands. One of his first public releases was by the rapper Murs, a friend from high school.

By 2015, he had established himself as someone who could help write songs and make records that worked. He had started a small publishing company and began building a team of collaborators.

Yes, I used a machine to record. when a naked man’s chasing a woman through an alley with a butcher knife and a hard-on, I figure he’s not out collecting for the red cross. this is my gun, close! you wouldn’t hit a man with no trousers on, would you? this is the ak-47 assault rifle, the preferred weapon of your enemy; and it makes a distinctive sound when fired at you, so remember it. here. put that in your report!” and “i may have found a way out of here. well, do you have anything to say for yourself? I took a viagra, got stuck in me throat, i’ve had a stiff neck for hours. my lord! you’re a tripod. you are as precious to me as you were to your own mother and father.

Not everyone is going to like what I do, and that’s something I can accept. If everyone liked what I did, I probably wouldn’t be playing anything of depth.

Traditions are imploding and exploding everywhere – everything is coming together, for better or worse, and we can no longer pretend we’re all living in different worlds because we’re on different continents. A songwriter’s supreme challenge is being complex and simple at the same time.

It was mesmerizing to see this guy. It seems to be a work of lovely art. The small panels in the entire building maintained in their colors was wonderful. Clean and fun.
